The Mokiti Okada Research Center – CPMO, began its activities as a Center for Fostering Messianic Natural Agriculture – CFANM, units for experimental cultivation and production of vegetables, fruits, cereals and some production animals, based on the principles of Natural Agriculture, this model advocated by Mokiti Okada (Japan, 1882-1955).
The first CFANM unit was inaugurated in 1989 in an area of 17 ha located in the municipality of Atibaia, SP, which had already been used for small productions of natural vegetables since 1977. Later, other units were expanded in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and the Federal District.
In April 1990, the Ipeúna unit was inaugurated, in the interior of SP, at Fazenda Serra Dourada, becoming the CFANM’s central unit and the only one that had a laboratory and also developed research projects. These units became known as Poles of Natural Agriculture.
With the increasing volume of products resulting from experimental cultivations by CFANMs, the first company of the Korin Group, Korin Alimentos, was created in 1994. This company is controlled by Korin Empreendimentos e Participações LTDA, whose majority owner is Igreja Messiânica itself. Brazil World Cup. Korin Alimentos absorbed the production activities of all the units and the flow of their productions.
Research activities and scientific studies until then conducted at CFANM Ipeúna remained linked to FMO. In 1996, the unit was renamed Mokiti Okada Research Center – CPMO. Adding more investments in its research structure, laboratories and in more researchers, the CPMO became a body exclusively dedicated to the research and development of scientific studies in agricultural, production animals, environmental and food themes, based on the Natural Agriculture model of Mokiti Okada.
Over these 32 years, CPMO has been working with the objective of researching, developing and disseminating technologies for sustainable agriculture, more in line with the world’s demands for more efficient production models, with low GHG emissions, also aiming to offer solutions that promote the rural prosperity and improve the health of people and the planet.
The CPMO has always been very focused on studies of effective management of agricultural production, of production animals, treatment of solid and liquid organic waste. To this end, it researched and developed several tools that could help to achieve this effectiveness in the field. It brought from Japan the microbial technologies for the production of bioinputs, based on recent and traditional knowledge, which were widely studied and adapted to Brazilian conditions, making them 100% national.
Mokiti Okada (1882-1955) was a Japanese religious, artist, philosopher and thinker, who produced an extensive work, addressing in a visionary way and clearly far beyond his time, subjects related to agriculture, politics, economy, education, morals, art , medicine and religion.
Foreseeing a chaotic scenario arising from the selfish and materialistic attitudes of man in relation to humanity and the environment, Mokiti Okada established the World Messianic Church in Japan (1935) with the objective of providing people with means to seek happiness by practicing actions that conducive to spiritual health and true bodily health. Among these practices he listed the ingestion of food produced in a natural way, based on the phenomena and laws of the great Nature.
In agriculture, he advocated a very intriguing model, based on a very profound vision, which involves the crossing of elements from the Sun, the Moon and the interior of the planet Earth, and the interaction of this crossing with the spirituality and feeling of man, of the soil , plants and all animate and inanimate beings existing in an agricultural ecosystem. Mokiti Okada called it Natural Agriculture, in a simple and one-sided translation, however, in the deepest meaning it carries the message that it is a technology that was developed by Nature itself over billions of years and applied by her in her own “cultivation fields”, the diverse biomes of the planet.
According to the principle explained by Okada, all this interaction takes place in the soil’s arable layer. Thus, all management and care actions when plowing land must be strongly based on respect for its soil, its nature and the above-mentioned principles.
From a technical and pragmatic point of view, the harmonic reaction of all the aforementioned interactions lead to a natural governance for the modulation and effectiveness of all the functional properties of a good soil: physical-hydric functionalities, chemical balance functionalities and biological interactions functionalities.
Mokiti Okada positions agriculture as one of the main human activities capable of creating a harmonious and happy civilization. His works express concern about the inclusion of consumers and rural producers in value chains that are important for sustaining the rural way of life, generating prosperity in the countryside, social balance in urban centers and the health and well-being of both.
Korin Agricultura e Meio Ambiente Ltda was established in 2018 with the aim of consolidating the industrial and commercial processes of bioinput technologies developed by the Mokiti Okada Research Center – CPMO. It is the newest company of the Korin Group, controlled by Korin Empreendimentos e Participações Ltda.
For many years, these biological technologies were primarily used in the fields of agricultural and animal production, owned and outsourced, by the companies of the Korin Group. From the founding of this new company, we wanted to share with our farming friends everything that was developed for our own use and with excellent results. Currently, over 600,000 hectares of cultivated areas have been used using these technologies.
Currently, CPMO is a division of Korin Agriculture and Environment that is part of EKOINOVA (Korin Ecosystem of Innovations). This research and development environment responds to and conducts all research, development and innovation related to the company’s bioinput portfolio. Its structure is equipped with a team of researchers, R&D and applied research laboratories, experimental fields and a range of public and private institutions associated with the constant innovation and improvement of products. Also, several scientific studies are carried out to subsidize the technical support to the consumer, in the tireless search for the best results of the technologies.
